THE BARE INFINITIVE
Normalmente utilizamos “to” con el infinitivo, por ejemplo, I want to see you. Sin embargo, in algunos casos, usamos el infinitivo sin “to”.
a) Con los verbos modales.
It must be true He can´t say that They may arrive soon.
b) Después de make(obligar) let ( permitir) + noun/ object pronoun.
They made me stay with them.
They will let you come with us.
Con estos dos verbos además hay que tener en cuenta que si ponemos en pasiva la frase en la que aperecen, el verbo make irá entonces seguido de infinitivo con “ to “ , y el verbo “let” se cambia por el verbo “allow + to”
I was made to stay with them.
You will be allowed to come with us.
c) Después de would rather y had better.
I´d rather walk here than take the bus.
I´d rather not stay out late tonight:
We´d better go home now.
d) Estructuras con prefer y would rather.
*I prefer something to something else.

El verbo “try” puede ir seguido de infinitivo o gerundio pero con distinto significado:
+ infinitivo: hacer un esfuerzo

La expression “I am afraid” puede ir seguida de:
